FMI PRESENTA INFORME. VE FRAGILIDAD MACROECONÓMICA EN ECONOMIA DOMINICANA; AFIRMA LA SITUACION FISCAL SE HA DETERIORADO EN LOS ÚLTIMOS MESES

           
                       
Internacional (FMI) que acaba de evaluar la economía de República Dominicana, concluyó que las perspectivas macroeconómicas para el corto plazo representan un reto para la administrración del presidente de Danilo Medina.
 
Dijo que las nuevas autoridades estan en la necesidad de fortalecer el marco macroeconómico, incluyendo en particular, ajustarsignificativamente la posición fiscal, y enfrentar los riesgos provenientes de la economía global. Se espera que el crecimiento del PIB real sea de alrededor de 4% en 2012 y 2013, mientras que se proyecta que la inflación se mantenga baja.
En un informe publicado en la página web del FMI, la misión establece que mantuvo conversaciones fructíferas con el Gobierno y representantes de la sociedad civil y desea expresar su agradecimiento por su excelente cooperación y la franqueza de las conversaciones.
"Las autoridades manifestaron su interés en contar con el apoyo del Fondo Monetario Internacional en el diseño de políticas económicas. Se acordó llevar a cabo las conversaciones relacionadas con la consulta del Artículo IV y el seguimiento posterior al programa antes del final de 2012", agrega.

Septiembre 19, 2012-,Una misión del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) encabezada por Przemek Gajdeczka visitó Santo Domingo del 10 al 18 de septiembre de 2012, para revisar la evolución económica y sentar las bases para las próximas conversaciones para la consulta del Artículo IV y el seguimiento posterior al programa. La misión se reunió con el Presidente Danilo Medina, miembros del gabinete económico, altos funcionarios del Gobierno, representantes del sector privado y dirigentes sindicales. Al concluir la visita, el Sr. Gajdeczka emitió la siguiente declaración.“La misión analizó la evolución económica reciente y las perspectivas a corto plazo para la República Dominicana. Este año, la economía se ha desacelerado y la inflación ha disminuido, mientras que las posiciones fiscales y externas se mantienen débiles. El crecimiento real del PIB fue de 3.8 por ciento en el primer semestre de 2012, apoyado por la agricultura, el comercio y el turismo.
La inflación disminuyó rápidamente, reflejando en gran medida la ausencia de choques de precios adicionales a los de 2011. La inflación interanual fué de 2.2 por ciento en agosto, por debajo de la meta de 5.5 por ciento +/- 1 por ciento especificada bajo el régimen de metas de inflación recientemente introducido por el Banco Central.
 
“La situación fiscal se ha deteriorado en la primera mitad del 2012. Los ingresos fueron impulsados por la recaudación extraordinaria derivada de la venta de la Cervecería Nacional Dominicana. Sin embargo, mayores gastos, incluyendo los subsidios a la electricidad, condujeron a un déficit del sector público consolidado del 3.3 por ciento del PIB a junio de 2012 (en comparación con el objetivo anual de alrededor del 2 por ciento del PIB en el presupuesto original).
“La política monetaria se ha flexibilizado en 2012 para apoyar la actividad económica. El Banco Central disminuyó la tasa de depósito overnight entre mayo y agosto por un total de 175 puntos base (a un nivel de 5%). El agregado monetario M2 aumentó 6 por ciento entre diciembre de 2011 y agosto de 2012, mientras que el crédito al sector privado en moneda nacional ha disminuido ligeramente. A mediados de septiembre las reservas internacionales brutas, se situaron en US$ 3.4 miles de millones (aproximadamente dos meses de importaciones), mientras que el peso se ha mantenido estable en términos nominales desde finales de 2011.
